Tim Parkin has proposed a redesign of python.org, and despite some misdirected unconstructive criticism, I think it's a winner (hat tip: Hans Nowak). I can actually stand to, you know, set my eyes upon it without wondering if I'll be seeing my lunch again real soon. It gives the language the extra subconscious punch that curious management-types need in order to give python a serious chance in business. Compare the current python.org with, say, java.com. From the point of view of someone who doesn't give a flying flip about whether functions are first class objects, but does give a very large flying flip about being able to ship quality software to people who, you know, exchange money for software, the new design is not simply eye candy. It's silly that our brains are wired to be affected by pleasant color schemes and pictures of Super Happy Python Programmers Who Love Their Jobs, but they are. I would likely find myself coming to python.org for python help (parish the thought!) more often after this redesign, and not jump to google or peoples' personal sites right away. Even the logo gives the language a comparatively more professional feel. Great work, all around.
