This is nothing new —you could view this as a counter-strike
against new— but I just need to say that I love
quotation collections, especially those by Michael and
Andrew. It
seems that however depressed I might be about some thing, I just need
skim through few quotes from such a collection and I can't but
laugh. It brings some mysterious joy into my heart. It might not make
a permanent effect, but is a relief nevertheless.
What is also puzzling is the fact that I get the most pleasure out of
cynical and rude quotes like this:
This is not to say C++ = bad, Lisp = good. It's to say
C++ = bad irrespective of everything else.
And, I shouldn't probably admit this but here it goes, I even like
some real harsh quotes like this:
The PROPER way to handle HTML postings is to cancel the article, then
hire a hitman to kill the poster, his wife and kids, and fuck his dog
and smash his computer into little bits. Anything more is just
extremism.
And I finally, just a plain sensible wisdom from our beloved Fredrik:
I mean, just take a look at Joe Strout's brilliant little "python for
beginners" page. Replace all print-statements with
sys.stdout.write( string.join(map(str, args)) + "\n") and
you surely won't get any new beginners. And That Would Be A Very Bad
Thing.
