Andre blogs about how his project was built using Eclipse RCP instead of a webapp based portal. It is refreshing to see how thoughtful research was done do see what type of application would best fit their needs instead of the standard "everything will be a webapp" mentality. Don't get me wrong I thingk that web based applications are the best fit in many places. However, desktop and richer client based applications also are an attractive solution especially in today's broadband age. I hope that technologies like Ajax promote interest in finding the right solution and not just another reason why everything should be a webapp.
