Sounds funny or sounds interesting? I never had bothered about this till the time I came across this blog post from Rick Jelliffe. Rick has tried finding out the answer on a Wintel (windows + intel) machine (for a 32 bit processor).

His finding says that a String has trouble storing characters more than 500,000,000 or a file more than 167MB.
