I see from my referral logs that many J2ME developers are searching for ItemStateListener is private of a different package than displayable answer. Well the answer in short terms is you are using ItemStateListener when you should be using CommandListener, let me explain.

ItemStateListener should only be used for text or other types of input into a box in a form. Otherwise, since most J2ME sales channels require you to mark each screen with an exit and back command other than the main screen you should be using Choice.SELECT_COMMAND or LIST.SELECT_COMMAND to obtain the boolean value in your commandAction method and use getSelectedIndex() to get the int value to set your logic statements.
