Red Hat has made two good move to shore up the legal protection of the GPL
license according to this
pr doc at yahoo. One, it has coutner sued SCO Group on grounds that Linux
Kernel does not infringe on Unix copyrigths and for SCO Group to stop all
mentions of that item unless it is prooved in a court of law.
Second, the more important move is that they put up $1 million in a Open
Source Now fund to protect companies from legal attacks such as SCO
Group's for all compaines using and contributing to open source. At the
time of the notice its listed as GPL license, but I am getting mor
einformation of whether or not other OSI apporved lcienses are included.
Its two good moves now lets see if the other supporters of open source step
up. Like IBM, Oracle, BEA, HP, Intel, and SUN.
