I've been kicking around the idea of a sample app for Desktop Java Live. The first 4 or 5 chapters of Threading, Look and Feel, and Layout are more abstract concepts. However, the next 4 get into application design concepts like Events and Messaging, Communication Channels, and Validation, etc. First would a sample application be helpful? Argue against it if you like. If you think it would, what would you suggest? It needs to be complex enough to incorporate the concepts of the book. However that is the only rule. I think another pet store is useless. Assuming I write one it might as well be something useful. At the moment I've kicked around an RSS reader. Take a look at the TOC and let me know what you think.
