What you want in Java 6.0? Ever wanted to contribute to Java as a developer? Toward the end of the development cycle for J2SE 5.0, Sun made available to the public several "snapshot" releases of the weekly binary JDK builds. These snapshots allowed developers access to the latest fixes and changes made to J2SE 5.0 after the public Beta release, but before the final General Availability release. Response from the developer community was tremendous.
Building on that enthusiasm, Sun is expanding the snapshot concept for the next major J2SE release, code named "Mustang." Snapshot releases will be available much sooner in the development cycle. Doing so will afford developers the earliest, most comprehensive access to date of the next major J2SE release.
