Once agina SCO Group attempts to attach their product to Linux success by
offering FUD according to this
Techworld article. They will allow you to use Linux if you buy their
product license, Fuck you McBride!
Fact, 2 owners of copyrights on
System V code; SCO Group and BSD Lite(hackers by early 1990s court case
settlement before court case judgment).
Fact, Unix trademark is
owned by opengroup.oirg. Fact, revenues from previous licenses are still
tunred over in terms of 90% to Novell. The major reason for SCO Group to
redo the Sun license was to get new revenue as the other revenue was going
to Novell in terms of 90% of the revenue.
Fact, code that is the
same or similar to other code in very different operating systems does not
proove copyright infringement occurred. There have been numerous court
cases rulling on this fact in the PC arena during the 1980s to 1990s time
span. Remember only IBM had access to SCO code and only SCO group had
access to this SCO Group code.
Fact, SCO Group does not own patnets
on Unix; Novell has this honor the whole basis of why Novell is still
collecting 90% on licenses entered into existence before the sale of
copyrights to SCO Group.
Sun and Microsoft chose to support SCO
Group's FUD and they wil find that a very costly proposition both in moeny
and pr once SCO Group is humbled by IBM in court. Was it worth it SUN and
Microsoft to support this FUD?
