While China Unicom's move towards J2ME with both using a java download server from Motorola and J2ME handsets is an easy move towards java; the hard part is yet to be completed. Currently only one dialect of Chinese is suport in handsets.

The challenge is in whether or not handset vendors move towards doing more Asian language encodings rather than just one of each major language group. This is also indirectly includes how much progress is made in Machine Translation.
