Feed Description: Java related topics for all major areas. So you will see J2ME, J2SE and J2EE issues here.
Sometimes i am wondering if most java bloggers, especially the known ones, are doing real projects with real customers. They seem to change technologies / frameworks like others change their underwear and all this without looking back. For example the Spring Framework. I have not been doing anything with it so far and perhaps its the best thing since sliced bread but there are some non-technical issues (i know most guys thing there are no non-technical issues on this world) that just prevented me (and others) from using it:
- companies allready have code and even its J2EE based, its not allways that bad
- it costs a hell lot of money to migrate to Spring or to any other technology
- CTO ask what standard body is behind Spring, i cant answer with "Rod Jonson" on that question
- If the CTO is allready in asking mode, he could also ask about known projects allready running with Spring
And please dont start to count all the technical merits over J2EE now, it doesnt matter for a lot of projects. I just want to make sure that if people dont use Spring or any other hip technology so far, it could be a different reason than ignorance or incompetence, most of the time, its the real world business that drive decissions.
