A while ago I blogged about GMail API for .Net. Now there is a similar API for Java. It is called g4j (GMail API for Java). ;-) It is a open source project developed by Siuying (sorry if I got the name wrong) 'a tiny programmer in a big enterprise in Hong Kong'.

G4J: Sample Application

It comes with a proof of concept application called GMailer for Java. The project can be found in sourceforge. Also check out the author's blog post about it.
