While starting an Open Source Java FAQ to encourage fair behavior on the
part of all contributors to the JCP rpocess might seem like a good idea,
we still have a long way to go in that process. The
JavaLobby thread and the
Wiki for the FAQ don't indicate the massive need for education of the
average java developer who doesn't even know that Open Source Java is in
the APIs that he or she is using.
So what form should the
re-education of java developers on the fact that open source java is
within the java apis that they are using and thus is important to the jcp
process and their profession? Should we list all jsrs and the open source
contributions broken down into J2SE, J2EE, J2ME, JavaCard, and etc? And
how do we separate SUN open source java from other sources? Some
developers have the assumption that SUN open source is the only java open
source within the Java APIs.
So what form should the re-education
of OpenSource Java's role in the Java APIs from JCP should take is putting
the format in wiki enough or should there be another concurrent effort
that feeds into the wiki? on Open Source Java FAQ?
