Games are an age old love for the human beings. The forms and means have changed, but the passion still remains and in fact has grown with the exciting new widgets in the market. Mobile is the next in thing and games are making users more addictive.
Although the games have matured in many ways, especially the electronic games. From 1D to 2D and now to 3D, the thirst for gamers have always increased.
Looking at the other end of the gamers are the programmers who are increasingly facing traumatic conditions to create games that meets and exceeds the gamer's expectations.
MIDP 1 was a great initiative from sun to write programs for Java enabled phones. Alas, the game development, although possible had been far less opted by the programmers due to lack of any API support.
If I am not wrong, every MIDP 1 game programmer had invented a wheel (the sprite, collision detection and game state classes at the minimum) to keep the games rolling.
After all the ups and downs in the life of the programmer, here comes the good news. MIDP 2.0. Apart from other features, MIDP 2.0 offers a special Game API that makes the life of programmer much simpler.
Title of the post links to a new article at java world that describes with an example how to use Game APi to develop mobile games.
