Yes, I know we're all bored with the "Sun should open source Java" meme, which is why I've kept from posting on it.

Now James Strachan has suggested what someone should have come up with a long time ago.

Combine that with stong trademark enforcement of the Java trademark by Sun and it would satisfy both the open source and the "please don't fragment Java" communities
