Here in Chicago, in spite of the fact that I know what I'm doing, it's illegal for me to wire a light fixture on my own; instead, I need to find a trained, certified, union electrician who can perform the work. I tell him/her where to install the fixture, and they take care of the rest: select the appropriate gauge and type of wire, pull it through the wall/ceiling, connect it to the main service, etc.In a similar vein, it is possible for people to readily recognize progress in tooling for building houses: nail gun vs. hammer, laser versus level and plumb bob, etc. But no one would pay any serious mind to the proposition of building a home without the perfunctory assortment of architects, contractors, specialists, and inspectors. Why do vendors think they can get away with the analogous assertion for software:XXX and YYY will attempt to solve both issues with technology that allows enterprises to customize CRM applications by designing their own business processes without IT intervention. The promise is that business process owners themselves could design the processes without needing programming skills. And are potential customers really that dumb?
