At long last, wireless.java.sun.com has published End-to-End J2ME Application Development by Example - Introducing Smart Ticket . I co-authored this with Michael Yuan, who is author of Enterprise J2ME. This article has been in development through 3 revisions of the Smart Ticket application, and it's good to see it finally in print.

I won't claim to be a J2ME expert myself. Most of the J2ME expertise comes from Michael. My interest in Smart Ticket was as a model for developing J2EE applications that would allow for a J2ME front end. I can easily imagine us wanting to add J2ME front ends to our J2EE applications at work, and I wanted to stay ahead of the game and understand what type architecture we'd need to do that. If you think you might end up doing J2ME applications that talk to your existing back-end systems, take a look at Smart Ticket blueprints.
