I had high hopes for another one called "Tag Oriented JSP Design,"
but it just looked like an overview of extending other tags and, of
course, making your own tags to things, all with the different
techniques of staching stuff and getting stuff from different scopes,
as well as setting and using scripting vars. Good stuff, for sure, but
stuff I've been doing for awhile. So, it was off to something else
after about 10 minutes.
The slides for this were very detailed, so there's not much use
summarizing them (they're in a zip
file). As I was telling several people, nothing was brand new or
bust your shit up revolutionary. But, for me, it never hurts to hear a
different explanation of good design principles.
More importantly, the way they're organized and selected (which
principles you choose to go over) is also always worth while. Really,
each of the principles deserves a post and discussion itself. As such,
I'd have to say this was the best session I went to: aside for the
"Expert Panel Discussions," it seems to kicked my mind into gear the
most.
