Feed Description: My thoughts on Java, software development and technology.
Day one at the conference has been pretty hectic and it's not over yet. I'm planning to attend the java.net BOF tonight and the Java bloggers meetup over at the Thirsty Bear. Some of the sessions have had monstrous queues but thankfully they've been more introductory sessions on topics like JSF that I'm not interested in attending. I went to a really great session on platform performance - the speakers were great and they had some really good content and advice. It was a little short and could have perhaps done with some more information on JVM tuning but I learnt stuff nonetheless. The persistence session was okay but wasn't what I was expecting.
The JavaOne Pavillion this year is very well laid out with lots of space between the booths. As Hani said, the freebies are fairly thin and far between and lots of companies are running competitions (for iPods, etc) where you can enter by getting registered. Another notable absence is that there are only a couple of publishing companies in the Pavillion (AW and O'Reilly). I think it's time to grab some food.
