Another non-commercial, JDO 1.0.1 compliant implementation is available in beta.
Its name is JDOMax:

"JDOMax is a non-commercial implementation of JSR 12, Java Data Objects, based on Object/Relational mapping. JDOMax was designed from the ground up based on the JDO 1.0.1 specification."

It also provides a brOOwser application, used for execution of JDOQL queries, and edit and commit of object fields:

&q 400 uot;brOOwser is a Swing application built using JDOMax. brOOwser allows for the execution of JDOQL queries, and allows fields of objects to be edited and committed. brOOwser displays the current state of the object."

Definitely worth a look see.
