The first JSR aiming to update the Java Community Process is now in the Public Review stage. This means anyone can download and comment on the draft proposal.
JSR 348 - Towards a new version of the Java Community Process aims to:
increase transparency of the process. For example, by making sure all Expert Group business is carried out on a public mailing list.
enable better participation for JCP members with the activities of Executive Committees and the Expert Groups.
speed up the time it takes JSRs to move through the JCP.
The Public Review stage ends on the 12th September, 2011.
There will be another two JSRs submitted to update the JCP - one to merge the two Executive Committees and the other to look at modifying the Java Specification Participation Agreement.
