The keynote speech at EclipseCon 2011 on Wednesday was The Java Renaissance presented by Mark Reinhold, chief architect of the Java Platform group at Oracle and John Duimovich, Java CTO and IBM distinguished engineer. It sounds like Oracle and IBM are making the right noises about being committed to Java.

There's a good InfoWorld article called Oracle and IBM find solidarity and a blog post on The Java Source about the keynote.

Also, JDK 7 now has a confirmed release date of July 28th, 2011.
