Just in case you've been hearing about NetBeans 7.0 and were wondering what happened to version 6.10, the NetBeans roadmap has changed to line-up with the new Java release schedule.

It means the next release of NetBeans will be version 7.0 (sometime in March 2011) and will support the beta version JDK 7. It's worth noting that as of NetBeans 7.0 there will be no support for the JavaFX scripting language. Those wishing to continue with the script will have to keep NetBeans 6.9.1 handy.

Refer to the NetBeans Roadmap for futher details. They've reached Milstone 2 which is available to anyone who fanices an early preview. For more details on NetBeans 7.0 have a read of its "New and Noteworthy" page.
