One intriguing piece of news to come out of JavaOne is the JavaFX scripting language is being shelved. JavaFX 2.0 will see the JavaFX functionality shift into a set of Java APIs. In addition the release will be looking to include a new high performance graphics engine, support for embedding HTML content in JavaFX applications, improved deployment and more. The full JavaFX 2.0 roadmap can be found on the JavaFX website.

At the moment the timeframes suggest early access and beta versions of JavaFX 2.0 sometime in the first half of 2011.

There's an interesting blog post from Amy Fowler, who's worked on JavaFX, on Swing and the changes for JavaFX.
