As James Gosling points out there's smelly stuff flying through the air. It turns out that Oracle has decided to file a suit against Google over its implementation of Java for Android. Specifically for copyright and patent infringement.

A spokesperson for Oracle has been quoted as saying:

"In developing Android, Google knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle's Java-related intellectual property. This lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies for their infringement."

It feels like this is one of those heavyweight battles that's going to go the full distance.
