Servlet 3.0 seems to have massively increased the complexity of the Servlet API, and to my mind a lot of it is starting to look like the API equivalent of "spaghetti code". Here's just one relatively minor example (but please, please, please put me straight if I've missed the meaning of this and it's all really simple and elegant).
