Orcale announced the other day that the "JavaFX(TM) and Java(TM) platforms are being used as the Official Rich Client Technology by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games". The official website will be sporting a JavaFX application which visitors can use to view medal results. As well as the results from Vancouver 2010, which begins on Friday, the results from previous games will be available.

The Medal Wheel application shows the results of each country through a nifty graphical design. Drilling down geographically brings up the actual events and medal winners. There's also a nice comparison view where you can see how a country stacks up against other countries that are closest geographically, have the closest population, have the closest number of athletes entered and even are closest in economic performance.
