Sun have chose to name the Project Rave as Sun Java Studio Creator based on an internal naming contest. The product according to Sun is aimed at Visual Basic programmers and not existing Java developers.

Project Rave is based on NetBeans. But most of the changes made for Rave will never make it back to the open source project.

According to Sun there are thousands in the waiting list for the current technical preview of Creator. But Java developers must not have their hopes up too high to get their hands on it just yet. Sun is currently looking for people who have not used Java.

The Creator is set to be released in the second half of 2004.
