New from Tim O'Reilly's Blog we have this charming infographic, apparently from a presentation by one Vic Gundotra, Google VP of Engineering.

That's right. That little box in the bottom left represents the entire advancement of the web as a platform between 1990 and 2008, dwarfed into insignificance by the massive advances we've seen in the last year.

In case you don't remember, this is what the web looked like back in 1993.

In comparison, it seems the state of the art for desktop apps has barely advanced since the days of Windows 3.1. (and in fact has frequently gone down).
