JavaScriptDB: Persevere’s New High-Performance Storage Engine
"The latest beta of Persevere features a new native object storage engine called JavaScriptDB that provides high-end scalability and performance. Persevere now outperforms the common PHP and MySQL combination for accessing data via HTTP by about 40% and outperforms CouchDB by 249%. The new storage engine is designed and optimized specifically for persisting JavaScript and JSON data with dynamic object structures. It is also built for extreme scalability, with support for up to 9,000 petabytes of JSON/JS data in addition to any binary data."
Some Notes on Distributed Key Stores
"Last week I ended up building a distributed keystore for a client. That wasn’t my original intention, but after doing testing on just about every project out there, it turned out to be the best (only?) solution for our needs."
QuirksBlog: Introduction to W3C Widgets
"The time has come to talk about the W3C Widgets part of my job. Exactly what is a widget, how do you create one, why would you want to, and which systems support them?
Personally I firmly believe that widgets are the future of the mobile web. They are easy to create, they’re based on open standards, they save the end user quite a bit of network traffic, and many people around the world already know how to create them.
In contrast to other recent publications about widgets, I’ll tell you the whole story — or rather, a condensed version thereof."
Bespin to Helma « Gozilla planet
"I started porting bespin backend to pure JavaScript. I have choosed helma-ng for that. Choice was based on my past experience with helma 1.x and on a good feedback for NG from people I trust. Besides in NG we have much more JavaScript then Java, unlike it was back in helma 1.x. Apparently I have underestimated the speed and amount of work to be done. Basically I have ported part of the python code, but most of the time I ended up just applying changes from the last commits to already ported code instead of porting more of it. (Lack of free time on the one hand and the lightning speed of the bespin team on the other hand :). So if someone feels self like want’s to jump in, feel free to fork http://github.com/Gozala/bespin-helma-backend/ and annoy me with a questions, you are more then welcome!!"
