Much has been discussed on the Android Discuss Mailing List about what woudl be the killer Android Application. The answer lies in the difference between Apple and Google.
Apple will dictate a User Interface to you, not that is not good in some cases. However, on a mobile device being able to adapt the User interface to your workflow is the killer application. One of the main reasons why there are so many efforts to jailbreak iPhons is due to these desires among users. Google is the opposite in they lean towards a customizable interface.
In Android 1.0 we as developers were introduced to a HomeScreen simple API to use for our own HomeScreen creations. The very first killer Android Application in the Android Makret will be the HomeScreen/Skin(Theme) package that solves that full customization puzzle with user usability. The lucky group that solves that series of puzzle swil make a million dollars this year.
