Apparently more people than I thought are reading this since someone actually noticed when I didn’t put up a moth yesterday. So a day late, here the weekly moth, another Underwing from Irvine Regional Park:

Catocala californica?
Irvine Regional Park, Orange County, California, USA

I’m pretty sure the genus is Catocala, but there are several suggestions for the species. J.D. Roberts suggests that Catocala californica, Catocala cleopatra, Catocala junctura, Catocala luciana, and Catocala francisca are all possible.
