With all the recent activity about social networks and VCs funding such adventures I am wondering if one could not somehow adopt the 37Signals business model to the market. Meaning, build a platform to solve a particular set of problems in setting up social network sites while doing consulting work full-time.
The business model would be revenue from platform services and customized programming services customizing the platform.
