Part of information design is knowing when to hide some piece of user interface. In my case with my Tiddlywiki I am hiding certain user interface editing elements because I am the only editor although everyone will get to see it,screen shot(click to enlarge):
In this case I am hiding the right side editing bar, as only the editor(me) needs see that during editing. So often its about analyzing what two audiences will need in a uses interface for a website and finding ways to re-purpose user interfaces for one or both groups. Some of the underlying ideas come Dave Gifford's work with Tiddlywiki that you can find at giffmex.org.
