I have found a post that rivals the quality of Paul Graham's Start Up essays and thus I am highlighting it here. The post is titled, "PR secrets? bullshit" by Loïc Le Meur founder of Seesmic.

So much of what went wrong other than the technical illogical assumptions of the founder was due to the non-tech side in exactly the areas the post discusses. The whole set of reasons why a developer/engineer will take something like a facebook clone and severely reduce it down to the best small prototype one can complete with the actual resources at-hand is due to the fact that the best prototype put out into the public is the best pr possible.

Has nothing to do with disobeying direct orders from the CEO/founder or other illogical and irrational conjectures. It has to do with the Founder/CEO facing the realities of what technically is technical feasible within the budget of resources at-hand to produce the best prototype possible within the shortest time possible.
