There is a little trick to get the guest additions to work with Ubunut804 when using VirtualBox. At bottom of this post use this Video Adjustment to xorg.conf file. You will re-boot and go through the xconfig screen and find that your Monitor choices of resolutions did not take, do not worry as we have one more step.

Guess what the last step is? Re-install the Guest Additions and e-boot and now the xorg config changes you make in the config screen by choosing your monitor will not be correctly added to the xorg.conf file. Do not ask my why it works, it just does.
