It never feels fun or works when you attempt to force 20,000 hours to get a functional alpha prototype of a FB clone in less than 1,000 hours down a developer's throat. Breaking up problem into extremely small non tightly coupled applications on someone else's platform is the only way to face not having the resources to build a FB clone requiring 20,000 hours.
Phase 1, to get to first VC investment 3 applications. Phase 2, 2nd VC investment round, 5 more applications. Now you have enough capital to tightly integrate the applications either in same Social OS platform or create a new one. And I do not even have a MBA and understand this balancing and managing limited resources.
