I just saw a job posting on our new jobboard from Apple. The position is Worldwide Developer Relations Partnership Manager and what is exciting to me is how Apple seems to really be betting on the web:

Dynamic individual who is responsible for maintaining relationships with new and existing developers to promote web application development techniques and technologies enabling delivery of world-class web-based solutions and content on Apple devices.

Sounds like the iPhone as well as WebKit partners.

What you would do:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and transition strategic web-based products, solutions, and developers to Mac OS X.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the “Web 2.0” industry and trends.
  • Work both independently and in close collaboration with Technology Evangelism, others in Partnership Management, Product Marketing, Engineering and senior management. Build internal and external relationships in order to effectively deliver Apple's message to developers, as well as championing developer needs and issues within Apple.
  • Maintain high level of marketing, business development and technical expertise.
  • Clearly communicate Apple product and marketing messages.
  • Promote the adoption of WebKit to 3rd party application developers.
  • Promote and assist with web content standards compliance with advanced HTML, XML, XHTML, DOM, CSS, JavaScript, Java, AJAX.
  • Promote best practices for web services development on Mac OS X using Cocoa and Dashboard.

Now that the deadline for iPhone v1 is over, hopefully there will be time for the Apple developers to add great APIs to the phone so all of the JavaScript hackers can do rich applications with all of the multitouch goodness.
