I am currenty thinking about different scenarious how to provide different development servers to employees. For various reasons i need at least a windows server, as well as a linux server. Since all these servers are not under heavy load (because they are dev machines) i definitely want a virtualized environment. For some seconds i thought about buying VMware ESX Server but now i think i will go with Xen and try out  XenExpress. This way we can start for free and increase the subscription model if needed. Xen also lists supported hardware and i think i will go with a 19″ PowerEdge System from Dell. Some might ask, why do you need a damn windows machine. The answer is that our ERP system is a small windows based ERP system. I have been googling several months for a java based ERP system targeted at small companies but it seems there is none.
