As we see more Facebook article son InsideFacebnook such as this one, there is a glaring blind spot that VCs are missing in funding FB Application StartUps. Let us call it the platform within a platform.

The most valuable marketing data that can be monetized is the application usage data. Now with Google Analytics being integrated with FB Canvas we have a way to track and collect it but what about an automatic system to analyze it and also to sell such data to interested parties?

At this time PHP and Ruby and several other FB supported scripting languages do not have good analysis and charting systems. Whereas in JavaEE we have Eclipse BiRT and several FOSS projects built on top such as Pentaho.

In creating a new FB application with access to this type of data of FB application usage we can use it to improve the user interface to encourage higher usage. We can use the same data to improve integration of the FB application with the FB mini-feed to encourage more FB application installs. IE, when we did new feature A FB application installs of application A went up by %25 and etc.

While it is of course important to focus on the single FB application in say a VC Fund application do not loose sight of the forest form that single tree you are focused on and forget the infrastructure of a platform within the FB platform that will allow multiple successes on a regular basis with hit FB applications due to the data analysis infrastructure. And let us remember multiple FB application successes are both revenue and stock multipliers!
