JRuby Can Save Swing suggests that Ruby can solve Swing's "It's too hard!" problem. Groovy Can Save Swing argues for Groovy in place of Ruby. In the web space there's the ever-increasing popularity of Grails. Scripting has successfully invaded Javaland and it's made a lot of people happy. Myself though, I'm a bit reserved about this explosion of new languages. These new languages will likely trigger an explosion of DSLs, and due to the ultra-pliable nature of scripting languages, this'll trigger even more new DSLs of questionable value.
