Genuitec is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a joint portal with Hitachi for Eclipse-based developers in the Japanese market. Users of this portal will have access to and support for the Japanese version of MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench, the popular integrated development environment (IDE). This version will be fully operated and supported in the Japanese language. Similar to the English version, Japanese MyEclipse will be available for a free trial.
The Genuitec/Hitachi partnership will significantly accelerate Java application adoption in the Japanese market. An estimated 70% of Java developers in Japan currently utilize the Eclipse platform, creating a new market opportunity for Japanese-language, Eclipse-based creative tools and plug-ins.
"Eclipse is quickly penetrating the Japanese market as the open source IDE of choice; however, many Japanese Java developers have not embraced creative tools such as MyEclipse because of the language barriers and lack of support," said Shigetoshi Hayashi, General Manager of Network Software and Software Division at Hitachi. "Availability of the Japanese version of MyEclipse and its Japanese language on-line support service will encourage a large number of Japanese Java developers to adopt MyEclipse, and as a result create a new opportunity for Eclipse plug-in providers to enter this virtually untapped Japanese market."
Moving forward after their September 2006 announcement of MyEclipse's bundling with Hitachi's acclaimed Cosminexus server, and now launching the Japanese MyEclipse subscription portal, Hitachi and Genuitec will continue to strengthen their partnership in order to increase Java application development productivity as the Japanese market evolves, including sequential distribution of additional functions and services for Japanese Java developers based on MyEclipse.
The Japanese MyEclipse portal is slated for launch by the end of April.
