First, I do not agree with the details and conclusion of this Wrong Way Symbian article. There are some very bad errors, such as it taking a full week to install a symbian sdk.
But, most of all Apple choose to implement a Mach like kernel on an ARM device because of Symbian's experience of doing it first! A better comparison would have been the object oriented mach kernel approach of Apple's with the less than stellar light-object approach of the Symbian effort.
My thinking is that there will be a port off Symbian to Linux but it will not be current Linux distros being considered but something more object based such as GNU Hurd.
