When the first Microkernel discussions flamed up there was no easy way to compare implementations as JBoss had not released a full applications server base don their microkernel, Apache Geronimo was but a dream, and Rickard Oberg's Microkernel implementation was still locked away.
No longer, with Jboss set to release JBoss5 with their own microkernel and Apache Geronimo already out the door with their won application server on top of a Microkernel we now will have away to compare the two MicroKernel implementations.

While certainly not having a Microkernel implementation to play with might have originally harmed the factual debate of the advantage and disadvantages of MicroKernels when Rickard Oberg started the discussion. I think now we will see that most of Rickard Oberg's original points had merit and were right.
