Feed Description: A Weblog about Java programming and digital convergence on mobile devices in such areas as P2P and collaborative technology.
I remember when I first tried the JXTA Search examples and binaries, extremely alpha code with 0.92 versions and really not stable enough for demos at least in 2001 with that version. A recent check of the home page of JXTA Search shows that version as the only binary build.
You would think after Sun Microsystems bought Infrasearch(the creators of jxta search) and morn the death fo one of the founders that the might have been a better stewart and produce some recent binary builds of JXTA Search. My bias here is that I do believe with billions of mobile devices coming online with full fledge web browsers that search becomes more important than ever.
Certainly one of the reasons why I originally choose JXTA Search to implement a Search Engine and P2P mashup was its adopters to search the gnutella p2p network. However, due to the alpha state fo code in 2001 I had to reject it and go with another solution.
