Feed Description: Marc's thoughts on Java and more
Patrick brought up a very nice blog regarding database update frameworks and points out some must-have features for such a beast. Funny enough i searched for exactly the same thingy some weeks ago without finding anything useful as commented here. In Patricks blog, Don Brown commented and posted his first thoughts on that topic here.
Someone mentioned SDRT as an implementation but while visiting the page, it seems its an EAP which will become commercial quite soon, so this is a no-option for me. Then there is Scriptella another approach to the same problem which looks ok but imo dont get it completely. So at this point i would rather join forces with some people and create a new one from scratch. Patrick pointed out that he is on something that he would eventually release soon. This would be another option if the license he is going to chose will be a no-brainer. So Patrick, release it and lets see if we can further improve that thing.
I would love to hear from people also interessted in creating a new one or enhancing on something existing with a solid base architecture. It looks like a good topic to return something into the OSS space because we need such a thing for ourselves in the next weeks. Our current approach to it is quite laughable.
