These are the correct floppy settings for VMWare Player with WinXP as the host OS are:

floppy0.startConnected = "FALSE"
floppy0.fileName = "A:"


The floppy will not be connected but will be accessed within the VMWWare Player menu to connect. I guess I should have rememberd that floppy is treated as boot and thus should have a setting of floppy0.startConnected = "FALSE" rather than any othr setting.
