If anyone has realized, Tiger, the code name behind J2SE 1.5 i.e. JDK 1.5; alright... Java 5 will finish its second year soon. If you are like me, you are wondering how many of the enterprises have really started using it or have already adopted it. There certainly was a lot of hype and excitement when JDK 1.5 was released. There were early adopters and many of them (if not few) did migrate and started moving further projects to JDK 5.
What if we simply look back? How many of us have really started adopting or consider Java 5 in our present/future projects? If you still share the same thougts as mine, Java 5 has still not gained the momentum. There could be a lot of reasons. Backwards compatibility? Learning curve? Too much of unused/non-required features? Lets share our 2 cents. I would like to hear from you, what you think could be the reasons for Java 5 not being as popular and adopted as much as its earlier versions?
