Well into the acceptance stage of my Java to Ruby grief cycle, I've found practical applications for Ruby as a rapid prototyping language. When something new comes along, a good way to casually follow the technology is to subscribe to a couple of blogs covering it. Ideally, from people who aren't afraid to criticize shortcomings (to balance out the cool aid).
