In new stream integration builds of Eclipse we now have a download of the ICU Project. ICU allows the Eclipse Foundation to add advance Unicode support to the Eclipse IDE.

In this comparison chart you can see how Unicode functionsin missing from the JDK 1.4 are provided by this ICU library. If you remember the hisotry of JDK 1.1 you are aware that the team members of the ICU project contributed to the internatilization APIs in JDK 1.1.
